Microsoft Office 365 services will be integrated into Meta Platforms’ VR platform to entice companies to operate in virtual realities. It will allow users to interact in virtual reality, along with sharing content from software such as PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint (VR), Excel, and Outlook.
On October 11, Meta declared a collaboration at Microsoft’s Connect developer conference.
Microsoft Teams will be incorporated into Meta Quest, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced at Meta Connect.
In order to provide individuals more opportunities to communicate with one another, he noted,
We are adding a Microsoft Teams immersive meeting experience to Meta Quest. It also plans to bring Windows 365 to these devices, allowing users to stream their entire Windows experience, including personalized apps, content, and preferences, through a Windows Cloud PC.
Meta Quest devices will also support Mesh for Microsoft Teams. It is designed to make virtual worker gatherings easier on any device, including smartphones, virtual reality headsets, and laptops.
People can communicate and work together as if, they were physically there with the help of Mesh for Teams, which is compatible with Meta Quest Pro. It will also be compatible with Meta Quest 2 devices.
Both Meta Quest 2 and the recently launched Meta Quest Pro will be supported by Microsoft Intune as well as the Azure Active Directory.
A Meta Quest for Business subscription will enable IT managers to confidently deploy these devices for users, ensuring that VR has the same security and administrative features as PCs and mobile devices.
The metaverse and the merging of the virtual and real worlds are exciting to us because they are transforming everything from telemedicine to remote maintenance to business and gaming. We are making great efforts to make sure that our software is compatible with all common devices, added Nadella.
Microsoft is teaming with Meta to introduce Xbox Cloud Gaming into the Meta Quest Store, allowing players to enjoy a variety of high-quality Xbox games through streams on smartphones, desktop computers, selected smart TVs, and the Meta Quest platform. “On Quest, you’ll also be able to play 2D games on a huge monitor using your Xbox console.” “It’s still early, but we’re excited about what’s ahead,” Nadella continued, declining to explain.
Meta also announced new partnerships with Adobe and Autodesk to bring new virtual reality experiences to architects, designers, and other 3D professionals. Zoom will also allow users to join workrooms in early 2023. Breakout groups, the ability to add post-it notes to the whiteboard, the ability for users to add three virtual displays to their desks, and four types of personal workspaces are among the significant new improvements to Workrooms. Magic Room, a new tool, will also allow collaboration between any combination of in-person and remote users. The feature will be made public next year, according to the company.
