What is a VPN?
VPN is written completely as Virtual Private Network. A VPN makes it possible to make an anonymous connection between your computer and the internet. All data is sent and received over an encrypted connection. Anyone who considers anonymity important on the web can therefore rely on a VPN app. This is possible for both computers and smartphones.
Guard your online privacy through a VPN
As mentioned in the introduction, a VPN offers a solution for those who importance to anonymity on the worldwide web. But what exactly is meant by anonymity, and how is that anonymity achieved? In order to answer that question, it is necessary to go a little deeper into how a Virtual Private Network works.
All computer networks have their own IP address. When you surf the internet, you leave a note with the website, as it were, stating your IP address. You are then traceable and not anonymous. Your provider can also keep track of what you do on the worldwide web. Although the provider does not use this information without good reason, it can create a feeling of insecurity. With a VPN, all your data is forwarded to a data center (often abroad), which then eventually forwards your data to the target server. Your network traffic is therefore redirected. The note that you leave with the website will therefore no longer contain your IP address, but that of the data center to which you are connected. Also the provider you are connected to can only see that you are connecting to a VPN server. As a result, you can surf anonymously.
In addition, this anonymity also makes it very difficult for so-called trackers to follow you on the internet. Personal data such as search history can therefore no longer be used for targeted advertising.
How do you choose a good VPN?
To make a choice and determine the best VPN for you, it is recommended that you do some research on the internet. This quest has some pitfalls: the best VPN is not necessarily the most expensive! There are many user experiences and tests that can tell you more about the different providers. That way you will certainly find the most suitable and best VPN for your personal situation!
