Jas Mathur recently said, “All diseases begin in the mind before they enter the body.” This does not mean that physical diseases start with thoughts, but it does mean that our thoughts can lead to actions or inactions that can make us sick. Our thoughts can destroy us physically, mentally, emotionally and financially.
This concept serves as the foundation for much of what Jas teaches to the world. REINVENT YOURSELF. Choices matter. Above all, the discipline to actually make the choices matters even more. As a result of this all-encompassing belief, life is limitless for Jas in all aspects of his life. Living limitless begins with a decision to let go of fear, to hold true to what is real, and to take massive action in the direction of your dreams.
Jump Ahead To:
Fear
Our relationship to fear is the most significant relationship we have, because what we are afraid of and how we respond to fear dictates every action we take. For Jas, he has learned to put his fears in perspective and evaluate them on the basis of how they affect his life. Jas’ shyness and the fear of public appearances was part of his life for a vary long time. However, his dedication and self-discipline to make physical, mental and emotional changes has truly led him to a reinvented self. Fear, of anything in life, can be paralyzing. The inability to change or unidentified need to change can have even more drastic consequences in all aspects of your life.
It is not fearlessness that enabled Jas to make necessary changes in his life, but the ability to recognize the fear and make small, determined choices to overcome the fear. Being an entrepreneur was in Jas’ blood. Being a public persona for his brand and product was not. He says, “As long as I can remember, I have had an entrepreneurial spirit which has always been cultivated by my parents. My parents never said no to my ideas. I am especially glad that they encouraged my initial idea to combine two of my passions, WWE and computers, and to turn the same into a profit-making venture. Thus, I taught myself how to develop websites and quickly launched the biggest and most popular sites devoted to wrestling. By the age of 16, I sold my first business to a media company.”
As a teenager, he began by publishing backstage news in AOL and mIRC chat rooms. He used this experience to create his own message board-like websites and in less than a year, they became some of the most frequently visited wrestling news websites in the world. He sold his network of sites to a media conglomerate at 16 years of age and founded a series of successful companies in various industries such as satellite TV, digital surveillance, online dating, online gambling and internet advertising. Jas started importing products from China at age 19 and was producing over $50 million per year in revenue in the consumer electronics, digital security, and surveillance industries by his mid- twenties. What started as an online business, expanded into brick and mortar stores with retail, wholesale and distribution of over 2,500 SKUs.
However, Jas was living in fear in many areas of his life, including a fear of change that kept him weighing over 400 pounds for many years. When he reached 450 pounds, with a 68-inch waist, living at death’s door every day, he made a choice to look fear in the eye, turn things around, and never look back.
Jas persevered. As he says, perseverance is power. He worked and worked and did not let fear overcome his ability to choose change. Looking at him now, you would never tell that this man, with this amazing physique and peaceful heart, was a completely different man whose choices led him to lose over 250 pounds, transforming his health, his confidence, and his entrepreneurial possibilities.
Jas says, “Desires dictate our priorities, priorities shape our choices, and choices followed by actions determine our destiny.” Jas conquered fear by making the active choice, or decision, to not let it become a priority in his decision-making. He realized that if he kept going back to the same fears that it held him back for many years, nothing in his life would change and he would be in a revolving door of frustration and increasingly poor health. He realized all that he could do and also realized all the ways he was holding himself back. And so he engineered new desires, which changed his priorities, which affected his choices and actions, which have now shaped his destiny as an influential entrepreneur. REINVENT YOURSELF. Choices matter. Above all, the discipline to actually make the choices matters even more.
